The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-supported Grand Challenge Nigeria Grant team has paid a courtesy visit to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) as part of its ongoing site engagements aimed at strengthening research collaboration.
The visit, which held at JUTH, was designed to introduce the research funders and further deepen institutional support as the team carries out its grant-funded research activities within the hospital. The engagement also provided an opportunity to align expectations and foster a stronger working relationship between both parties.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Bamsa, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving impactful research outcomes. He noted that the visit would not only enhance mutual understanding but also “further strengthen collaboration and foster a cordial working relationship” between the grant team and the institution.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director of JUTH, Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, expressed appreciation for the visit and welcomed the initiative. He commended the focus on development-driven research grants, highlighting their potential to influence policy and drive sustainable growth within the healthcare system.
Dr. Bupwatda further stressed that knowledge remains dynamic and can only be effectively delivered through continuous research. He expressed optimism that the partnership would lead to the development of impactful policies and innovations that will benefit not only the institution but the wider healthcare landscape.
