Today, August 29, 2024, marks a significant milestone in the history of the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy (NSP) as they celebrate 65 years of dedicated service to nation’s healthcare sector. Since their inception on August 29, 1959, NSP has been at the forefront of promoting physiotherapy practice, education, and research in Nigeria.
Over the past six and a half decades, NSP has grown from a small group of passionate physiotherapist to a thriving professional organization with a strong presence across the country. They have played a pivotal role in shaping the physiotherapy landscape in Nigeria, advocating for the recognition and development of the profession.
They have so far established a robust framework for physiotherapy education and training, and also developed and implemented evidence-based practice guidelines, fostered collaborations with national and international partners, promoted research and innovation in physiotherapy.
Today and beyond, as they celebrate this milestone, they reflect on their achievement and look forward to the future with optimism. They remain committed to advancing the physiotherapy profession, improving healthcare outcomes and enhancing the well-being of Nigeria.
