MARANATHA GRACE OF GOD MISSION ACADEMY VISITS JUTH

The students of Maranatha Grace of God Mission Academy Secondary School, Shendam, embarked on an enlightening excursion to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). The visit focused on the Microbiology and Chemical Pathology departments, offering the students a rare glimpse into the fascinating world of medical science and laboratory diagnostics.
Guided by the Information, Protocol and Public Relations Department of JUTH, the students were warmly welcomed and taken through a structured tour. The students facilitators were Mr. Longkem Emmanuel Bitrus from Chemical Pathology and Mr. Arin Nyam and Mr. Sanda Antun from Microbiology Department.
At the Microbiology Department, they observed how various microorganisms are identified and studied, gaining insight into the processes involved in diagnosing infectious diseases. The team explained the importance of hygiene, sample handling, and the critical role microbiologists play in public health.
In the Chemical Pathology Department, the students witnessed how blood and other body fluids are analyzed to detect conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, and liver disorders. The staff demonstrated some of the high-tech equipment used for testing, emphasizing the importance of precision and scientific inquiry.
Throughout the visit, the JUTH team engaged the students with interactive sessions and answered questions, sparking curiosity and interest in health sciences among the young minds. The school expressed gratitude for the hospitality and educational experience, noting how it aligned with their vision to expose students to real-world applications of classroom knowledge.
The visit concluded with a group photo and a vote of thanks from the school’s representative, marking the day as a memorable step in nurturing future scientists and healthcare professionals.
