The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) has officially aligned with the Federal Government’s National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) initiative, a key component of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on healthcare.
The NEMSAS program, designed to provide efficient emergency medical services, aims to improve response times and accessibility for critical care across Nigeria. By integrating with this initiative, JUTH is set to enhance its emergency medical response capabilities, ensuring timely and life-saving interventions for patients in need.
Speaking on the development, During the official introduction to various emergency points in the hospital, Dr. Nankling Lamu, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC) Clinicals, representing the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, emphasized the urgent need for immediate implementation and effective communication to ensure unhindered patient access to emergency care.
The NEMSAS program will provide free emergency treatment for 48 hours at designated emergency points, including Psychiatry, Accident & Emergency (A&E), Gynecology, and Emergency Pediatric Units (EPU).
Proper documentation will also play a crucial role in guaranteeing that patients receive free medications within the 48-hour period.
The hospital’s participation in NEMSAS Initiative will strengthen healthcare delivery in Plateau State and beyond. “This initiative is a game-changer in emergency healthcare.
