
The Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) commenced a crucial training on Protection of Human Participants and Responsible Conduct of Research, scheduled to run from April 9 to 11, 2025. The training is a key step toward the renewal of JUTH’s HREC license, ensuring the institution continues to uphold global standards in ethical research practices. The committee consisted of 13 members from concerned departments to be trained.
The training was officially declared open by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), who was unavoidably absent but ably represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Nankling Lamu. She was joined by other senior members of JUTH management.
The program is designed to enhance the capacity of HREC members in safeguarding the rights, dignity, and safety of research participants, as well as promoting a culture of ethical integrity and responsibility in all research activities conducted under the institution. The facilitators of the training are Prof. Kolawole Solomon Oyedeji from University of Lagos, Mr Ado Danladi from Federal Ministry of Health and finally Mr Aminu Yakubu from Federal ministry of Health.
