JUTH MANAGEMENT RECEIVES NUAHP DELEGATION, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO INDUSTRIAL HARMONY
The Management of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) received a delegation from the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), JUTH Chapter, on a courtesy visit to congratulate the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, on the renewal of his appointment for another four-year term.
The CMD was represented by the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC), Dr. Nankling Lamu Namo, who welcomed the delegation alongside other management representatives, including the Assistant Director of Administration, Mr. Nangwan Tangtur, representing the Director of Administration; Mrs. Juliana Bawa, representing the Head of Finance; and the Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mrs. Bridget Omini.
Speaking on behalf of the NUAHP delegation, Comrade Mwantu Williams Danjuma, congratulated the CMD on his reappointment and commended the hospital management for maintaining cordial relations with the union. The delegation noted that the chapter had experienced no internal strikes in the past four years, attributing this achievement to the value of dialogue and mutual understanding in resolving workplace concerns.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the union and hospital management to discuss issues relating to staff welfare, career progression, industrial harmony, departmental allowances and the improvement of healthcare delivery services within the hospital. Both parties emphasised the need for sustained engagement in addressing staff-related concerns and fostering a peaceful working environment. They also underscored the importance of professional ethics and the continuity of appropriate patient care, particularly during emergencies.
In its closing remarks, the union expressed its support for the continued progress of JUTH, while both parties reaffirmed their commitment to constructive engagement and collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a prayer for the health and recovery of the union chairman, who was unavoidably absent. Thereafter, the management team and members of the union visited him at the Emergency Ward.
The courtesy visit reinforced the importance of a collaborative relationship between JUTH Management and organised labour in promoting institutional harmony and supporting effective healthcare delivery.
