On October 31 2024, the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy (NSP) held its 64th Annual Scientific Conference and 65th Annual General Meeting at the prestigious Villa Grande Hall in Jos, Plateau State. The event’s theme, “WHO Rehabilitation 2030: A Global Vision for National Action,” highlighted the importance of physiotherapy in achieving global health goals.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including the former Chief Judge Federal High Court of Nigeria, Turakin Jos Hon. Justice Ibrahim N. Auta who was the chairman of the event, the Emir of Kanam HRH. Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Muazu Muhammadu, Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) Dr Pokop Wushipba Bupwatda who all showed their care and support for the progress of the physiotherapy vision of rehabilitation 2030.
Dr. Pokop Wushipba Bupwatda, Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), warmly welcomed NSP members to Jos. He praised the theme’s timeliness and assured the audience of JUTH’s full support in achieving the Rehabilitation 2030 goals.
Professor Rufai Yusuf Ahmad, Registrar of Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board of Neurological Physiotherapy at Bayero University Kano, delivered a keynote address emphasizing professionalism, patient care, and continuous learning among physiotherapists. He stressed that self-development is crucial for adding value to the profession and society.
The conference provided a platform for physiotherapy professionals to share knowledge, network, and advance their skills. The event continues today being 1st November 2024 as the pursuit for excellence is endless.
