SKIINN TEAM PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO JUTH MANAGEMENT

The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) recently played host to a delegation from Stop Kernicterus and Infection in Northern Nigeria (SKIINN), a US-based organization with a strong presence in Minnesota. The visit was part of SKIINN’s Annual General Meeting activities in Nigeria, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss progress and future plans.
The SKIINN team, comprising long-time collaborators with JUTH, engaged with hospital management to explore ways to enhance their research and capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes in Northern Nigeria. A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a successful research grant application focused on improving sepsis diagnosis. This achievement is expected to significantly boost early detection and management of sepsis within JUTH and its surrounding communities.
The collaboration also opens up opportunities for other states in Nigeria, including Kano, Zaria, Adamawa, and Gombe, to benefit from the initiative.
JUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Pokop W. Bupwatda expressed heartfelt appreciation to the SKIINN team for their continued partnership and commitment to healthcare improvement in the region. He congratulated the team on their grant success and encouraged them to sustain and expand the collaboration, noting that such partnerships are vital to advancing research, improving service delivery, and ultimately saving lives.
The CMD reaffirmed JUTH’s readiness to support ongoing and future projects with SKIINN, emphasizing the hospital’s dedication to fostering impactful international collaborations that translate into better health outcomes for patients.”
