The Chief Medical Director of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, has been honored with an Excellent Award of Sustainable Partnership in Advancing Elder Health and Social Welfare by the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC).
The recognition was presented during the Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Ageing, Plateau State Chapter, held on 17th October 2025, at the Patrick Hall, Crispan Suites and Event Centre, Jos.
The lunch and award ceremony was organized to commemorate the 2025 National Day of Older Persons, with the theme: “Older Persons Driving Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-being, Our Rights.”
The award was received on behalf of the CMD by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Njem Josiah Miner.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Miner, representing the CMD, expressed gratitude to the organizers for the recognition and commended the NSCC for its tireless efforts in promoting the welfare and dignity of older persons. He further encouraged the elderly to embrace graceful ageing, noting that “ageing is real and expected by every human being.”
The event was graced by dignitaries, including the Director of Administration, Mr. Tunji, other senior staff of JUTH, and several stakeholders committed to advancing the cause of older persons in Plateau State and across Nigeria.
This recognition underscores Dr. Bupwatda’s leadership, commitment, and continuous contribution to strengthening healthcare systems and supporting initiatives that uphold the rights and well-being of senior citizens.
