GEORGEL CANCER FOUNDATION VISITS JUTH ON A COURTESY CALL

GeorgeL Cancer Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the management of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH). The foundation’s name, GeorgeL, was coined from their father’s name and that of the deceased, Longji.
The late Longji, who was diagnosed with cancer, passed away at JUTH, leaving the family in deep pain and depression. The loss further affected the family, as Longji’s sister subsequently suffered pregnancy losses due to the trauma.
In response, the family decided to establish the foundation to create awareness about cancer, provide physical and emotional support to patients, and assist those in need. Their mission is to effectively communicate to patients that early detection saves lives, that cancer is not demonic, and to relieve patients of the burden of pre-medication and treatment costs. They also aim to engage the government to subsidize cancer treatment.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), sympathized with the family over their loss and commended them for transforming their grief into a mission to help others. He emphasized that JUTH is ready to provide training and services to support the foundation’s work and ensure better outcomes.
He also appreciated Roche Pharmaceuticals for their efforts in assisting and reaching out to cancer patients. Furthermore, he expressed hope that cancer drugs and treatments would soon be included in the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Above all, he pledged the hospital management’s full commitment to supporting the foundation in its vision.
