The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Dr. Pokop Wushipba Bupwatda, has been honoured with an award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s digital economy and healthcare transformation.
The award was presented during a brief ceremony held at the CMD’s office by the Chief Executive Officer of Knowhow Media International (ITEDGENESS Africa), Mr. Olusegun Oruame, and his team.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Oruame said Dr. Bupwatda was recognised as one of the 50 Most Influential Figures in Nigeria’s Digital Economy for his transformative leadership in the nation’s healthcare sector. He noted that under Dr. Bupwatda’s leadership, JUTH has embraced digital innovation, improved operational transparency, and enhanced patient care, making the institution a national model for technology-driven healthcare delivery.
According to him, although some teaching hospitals outside Lagos and Abuja are making remarkable progress, they often receive little national recognition because of their geographical location. He described Dr. Bupwatda as one of the country’s most respected Chief Medical Directors whose achievements continue to attract national attention.
In his response, Dr. Bupwatda expressed appreciation to Knowhow Media International for the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to do more in advancing quality healthcare through innovation and digital transformation.
He stated that the achievements recorded by JUTH align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly in strengthening healthcare service delivery through innovation and accountability.
The CMD dedicated the award to God, the management, and the entire staff of Jos University Teaching Hospital, commending their commitment, hard work, and unwavering dedication to providing quality healthcare services to humanity.
