A significant consignment of medical equipment donated by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) finally arrived at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
The brief handover ceremony, held at the JUTH stores, was graced by several dignitaries, including the Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Baamlong, the World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Dr. Mahdi Musa Wade, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Njem Josiah Miner, Professor Chundung Minner, the Head of Stores, Mrs. Edwina Puppet, and other members of staff of the hospital.
Speaking during the occasion, the Plateau State Coordinator of NPHCDA, Dr. Magaji Ajik Izang, made a symbolic presentation of the donated items, which include delivery beds, suction machines, baby weighing scales, operating tables, LED theatre lights, suction machine bottles, an automated hematology analyzer (3-part), and phototherapy lamps, among others.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Chief Medical Director (CMD), the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC), Dr. Njem Josiah Miner, expressed deep appreciation to the Federal Government for the kind gesture. He assured that the hospital management would ensure the donated items are put to proper and effective use to enhance service delivery.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Baamlong, commended the Federal Government and the NPHCDA for the support, urging JUTH to consider sharing some of the donated items with primary healthcare centers across Plateau State to strengthen grassroots health services.
Responding, the CMAC acknowledged the suggestion and assured that the management would look into the request, emphasizing that JUTH serves as a “big brother” to other health institutions in the state and remains committed to improving healthcare delivery for the benefit of the people.
