NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NEPHROLOGY NURSES HOLDS CONFERENCE OPENING CEREMONY AT JUTH

The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) on Tuesday hosted the opening ceremony of the National Association of Nephrology Nurses Conference, bringing together professionals and stakeholders in kidney care across the country.
The event, which took place at the hospital premises, was graced by distinguished guests, including the national chairman of the association, senior nephrology practitioners, and invited dignitaries.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of JUTH, Dr. Pokop W. Bupwatda, who was unavoidably absent, was ably represented by Dr. Anna Gyang. She welcomed the participants on behalf of the hospital and expressed the management’s commitment to supporting programs that enhance capacity building, research, and quality service delivery in nephrology and related specialties.
The national chairman of the association commended JUTH for hosting the conference and highlighted the importance of continuous training and collaboration in advancing kidney health care in Nigeria. He noted that nephrology nurses play a critical role in patient management, particularly in the areas of dialysis and kidney transplantation.
The opening ceremony also featured goodwill messages from invited dignitaries, who applauded the efforts of nephrology nurses in improving patient outcomes despite the challenges in the health sector.
The conference is expected to run through the week, with sessions focusing on emerging trends in kidney disease management, innovative nursing practices, and strategies to improve patient-centered care.
