Nr. Williams Nyam, a former nurse of the Accident and Emergency (A&E) Unit at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), has donated essential medical supplies from the UK to support the department. The donation includes vital equipment aimed at enhancing patient care in the A&E unit, where Nr. Nyam worked for many years. This gesture highlights his continued commitment to the hospital despite his relocation abroad.
Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of JUTH, praised Nr. Nyam’s contribution, describing it as a testament to his dedication during his tenure at the hospital. He also emphasized the crucial role of the A&E unit, often referred to as the “eye of the hospital,” and acknowledged the hard work of current staff. The donation is part of a broader tradition of support for JUTH, including recent improvements like the renovation of the A&E unit and further donations from other philanthropists.
Dr. Bupwatda urged other former JUTH staff, both in Nigeria and abroad, to follow Nr. Nyam’s example and give back to the institution that shaped their careers. He stressed the importance of supporting JUTH, particularly given the challenges faced in the resource-constrained Nigerian healthcare system. The CMD concluded by expressing gratitude for the donation and reaffirmed the impact such contributions have on improving patient care at the hospital.
