Research & Development Collaborations

One of the core mandates of JUTH is research and development. Over the years, JUTH as an institution has collaborated and supported research activities and is still doing it. Notable amongst the numerous collaborations are:

  1. Tripartite collation on HIV research by Harvard School of Public Health and APIN Public Health Initiative,
  2. Collaboration with Northwestern University on:
    1. U54 National Cancer Institute (NCI) grant [Epigenomic Biomarkers of HIV-Associated Cancers in Nigeria
    2. NIC/Fogarty D43 Research Training Program in HIV and Malignancies (NN-HAM)
    3. Cancer research collaboration
  3. Collaboration with Texas University Medical Branch on Lassa Fever.
  4. Collaborate with Northwestern University, Harvard University, Amadu Bello University Zaria, and University of Jos on Support of Training and Mentoring in Nigeria for Academics (STAMINA)
  5. Research on childhood Tuberculosis,
  6. Malaria research collaboration,
  7. The West African Centre for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases is a research collaboration with other institutions, with JUTH leading as the host institution.

Many of our staff are Principal Investigators (PI) and sub-PIs. We have participated in several clinical trials of new drugs and vaccines. JUTH is hosting a population-based cancer registry. There are more research proposals and as an institution, we will continue to support research and development collaborations.
